WorldMozaic - Downsizing, Movie about People who want to be rich

Imagine if you can have a mansion and have access to beautiful jewelry, Cuban cigarettes and full of health equipment and pensions. All can be earned with middle-class income.

But what is the cost? The cost is you must agree to beshrinked to five inches tall, live in a smaller place and save the world from over population problems.

The above sentence is the premise of the latest Paramount Picture movie titled 'Downsizing' directed by Alexander Payne. The film was first shown in the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend.

The film tells of Paul, played by Matt Damon, a shy Omaha therapist, has a good personality according to his colleagues and friends. But he hides the financial problems of his wife, Audrey (Kristen Wiig).

Paul just paid off his student loan. Changed his job to work at home so he can care for his ailing mother. He and his wife plan to move to a bigger house, but unfortunately his mortgage proposal was denied.

With the lure of luxury living, he and his wife were compelled to undergo a process of shrinkage inside a microwave. What awaits them on the other side is a deluxe McMoint with a private car service and full facilities. In this new world, their $ 152 thousand income is converted to US $ 12.5 million (this amount is middle-class income, so they remain poor).

After going through this process Paul realized that the life of a luxurious life with such a depreciation did not produce material comfort and made everything neglected. Plus it does not solve the world problem.

The making of the movie.

This movie requires a lot of budget for the large visual effect. Payne's "shrinkage" (which also directed Nebraska, The Descendant and Election) caused the filming process to be delayed due to funding problems. Though the script has been done since 2006.

"It's a great idea and challenges for Jim and I to take the miniseries idea and direct it into a two-hour feature film. It takes a while to find funding, but we want to make it first class and so it takes a long time," Payne said while promoting "Downsizing" in Toronto.

In some scenes, normal-sized people or normal-sized world elements interact with shrinkage people.

Downsizing will be released by Paramount in December.
