WorldMozaic - 14-year-old boy was indicted for fire cause.
A 14-year-old boy was indicted for sparking a series of fires near the city of Marseille, France, including those causing thousands of passengers trapped at the train station.
Police arrested the teenager on Tuesday night on the outskirts of Aubagne City, and he claimed to have caused nearly 20 fires around the southeastern city and devastated 300 hectares of territory.
In the most serious incident, 600 firefighters had to extinguish a fire near Aubagne that triggered major railway interruptions and trapped more than 3,000 passengers at Marseille, Nice and Toulon stations.
No houses were affected in the incident that started in the forest area surrounded by the residential area but a nearby holiday center had to be evacuated.
A psychological evaluation found that the boy was 'very interested in fire', said Marseille prosecutor Xavier Tarabeux, as quoted by AFP news agency.
Tarabeux, who requested that the child be placed in child custody, said that the perpetrator admitted to having burned from June to September due to 'boredom'.
