The Emir of Qatar will meet President Erdogan in Turkey

WorldMozaic - The Emir of Qatar will meet President Erdogan in Turkey

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will visit Turkey on Thursday to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his first overseas visit since the beginning of diplomatic crises with Saudi Arabia.

Al-Thani will hold talks on "bilateral and regional relations and international developments," the Turkish presidency said.

Erdogan has been a major supporter of Doha since Qatar is isolated diplomatically and economically by an impasse instigated by its neighbors.

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut ties with Qatar, accused him of supporting extremism and fostering relations with their Shiite rival Iran.

However, Doha denies the claim.

Erdogan strongly rejects sanctions imposed by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt against Doha.

In pointing out its solidarity, Turkey also sent cargo ships and hundreds of aircraft containing food products to break the embargo against Doha.
