WorldMozaic - The Importance of Breakfast in Maintaining Health

Morning Breakfast is very important. This godo behaviour triggers body metabolism in the morning, helps burn calories throughout the day and also provides the energy we need to move.

Many studies have linked breakfast habits and their health effects, including improved memory capacity and improved concentration. Breakfast is also recommended because it lowers LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Muscle and brain require energy that comes from glucose, at the time of waking up this glucose level is low. Skipping meals in the morning will usually result in individuals feeling lack of food and will be rewarded by overeating in the noon or afternoon.

Breakfast also helps us to get some vitamins and minerals from healthy foods like wheat, and fruit. If we choose breakfast from an unhealthy menu then our bodies lose the opportunity to get this good nutrient.

Children who skip breakfast will be more likely to eat unhealthy foods (junk food) throughout the day and usually have excess body weight. A study showed significant results in children who regularly eat breakfast, their body mass index is much lower than children who do not have breakfast regularly.

For individuals who do not like breakfast,  they can eat a little portions an hour after waking up. However, it is recommended to avoid high carbohydrate foods such as fries or donuts. Breakfast should consist of complex carbohydrates, protein and fiber. Wheat oatmeal, low-calorie milk, fruit, yogurt or nuts are some example ofgood breakfast choices.
