WorldMozaic - Western Digital Markets Hard Disk with 12TB Capacity

Enterprise technology and storage device solutions Western Digital Corporation has expanded its WD Gold hard disk line by including a 12TB model designed to answer Big Data's workload demands.

Large-capacity hard disks are provided for higher-density storage devices for enterprise and cloud storage applications.

"As data continues to grow relentlessly, maintaining data and generating deep insight into the data is becoming increasingly important," said Brendan Collins, Vice President of Devices Business Unit of Western Digital.

"The most effective businesses taking advantage of operational data can make smarter decisions, increase business revenue and ultimately have a competitive advantage," he continued.

WD Gold hard disks are designed to store the most valuable user data. Designed for heavy workloads, server environments with high vibration. The new hard disk has a reliability rating of 2.5 million hours of MTBF which is the highest among other WD hard disk portfolios.

The hard disk uses the 4th generation Western Digital HelioSeal technology, which ties helium in hard disks to help providing exceptional capacity, reliability, and power efficiency.

WD Gold 12TB comes with a warranty for five years. This hard disk will be available to some  distributors starting from November.
